Of course, that was the only cartridge that was sold out in Best Buy. What a joke. Anyhow, I hadn't tried anything new for Tasty Tuesdays, and Pops has a sweet tooth, so I figured it'd be dessert again! Fine by me.
When we got into the store, I remembered how good their Lobster Bisque is, and headed towards the seafood section. Of course, they didn't have any [because I wanted it, lol]. Then, sitting in a plastic container nexted to the shucked mussels, I spotted it; the most grotesque-looking food I had seen since I stepped foot in the store...

Ok, so maybe it doesn't look as gross here as it did in the store. Labeled Sesame Seaweed Salad, its appearance and name had already left me under the impression that I would NOT like it. But..for 1.75...I was willing to say I tried it and write about how horrible of an experience it was.
After I grabbed a few more things, Pops expressed that he had a hankering for a Chipotle Burrito [I LOVE CHIPOTLE!], so we paid for our things and took off down the street to the one on Wisconsin Ave. I decided that just in case the seaweed was nasty, I would try it before I ordered my Chipotle so it wouldn't mess with deliciousness of the crispy veggie tacos I had planned to order.
I was sure I'd have to get over the smell first, which ended up not being what I thought it would be. It smelled more like a salad than say the seaweed I had gotten whiff of on the beach before [BOY does that stuff reak]. I opened it carefully on my lap, and took my first forkful. Amazed...my pops just watched me, cautiously chewing as though I were solving a puzzle.
Never had I allowed myself a flavor like that of Sesame Seaweed Salad. It had a consistency that reminded me of tender, shredded zucchini. The sesame took off the seaweed-y edge that had made me fear trying it in the first place, and it was...sweet! Like...a light, refreshing dessert. What was making it sweet? Ahh yes...the brown sugar. How appropriate :)
I only ate a few bites, as I decided to save the rest to go with lunch tomorrow. I find it rather fabulous that I could find such a wonderful treat in something that I thought looked like canned swamp, lol. And who can beat a $1.75 treat that tastes good AND is good for you?
My pops was happy for me, but didn't care to try it. Can't blame him much, lol, but he can say he was there. That's it for Tasty Tuesdays. Don't forget, when you find something delicious, make sure you share it with someone you love.
Peace
